NEW YORK — “Pitch Fantastic” director Steven Spielberg will produce a “Paint the Town” sequel that’s about a “family of heroes” from New York’s history and culture, Disney announced Wednesday.
The studio said it is partnering with The Dukes of Hazzard, who wrote and will produce “Pixar’s” 2004 hit “Pineapple Express.”
The two writers will also serve as executive producers for the film.
The news comes on the heels of “Paprika,” the Oscar-winning 1995 film that Spielberg directed that also features the voices of Brad Pitt and Emma Stone.
It’s based on the book by Steven E. Seagal, a former LAPD detective.
Spielberg is producing with E.M. Scudder, who also wrote the book, and David L. Miller.
