Amazon and Wal-Mart have teamed up to create a new apparel and footwear brand, and the retail giant is looking to expand its reach in India.
The new company will be called Amazon.in, and will be the exclusive online retailer for its Indian-owned stores.
The deal was announced during a meeting between the companies in New Delhi.
Amazon and Walmart will launch a joint online store for its Prime memberships, and they will also open two new stores in the country.
The Prime members are Amazon Prime members who pay $99 a year, and can buy online for a minimum of 24 hours per month.
Walmart is also looking to increase its presence in India by expanding its online store in the city of Ahmedabad, which has been a mainstay of Indian shoppers since the country was founded in 1948.
The Prime membership will become available for Amazon.
In India, Prime members spend around $1 billion per year.
The Amazon Prime membership is available in 50 Indian cities, with a nationwide service that offers 30 days of free shipping.
Wal-Mart has a global presence in over 120 countries and territories and has a market share of around 70% globally.
The two companies have been partners for some time, but the two have yet to make any formal announcements.
